Google is among the leading search engines on the World Wide Web. Most of the users on the internet prefer to use Google as their main search engine than all the rest of them combined. For this reason it has become imperative that your web address, site or blog or article, get the highest possible rank on Google search result pages. However, this is not as easy as it is often made out to be.
Internet marketers and search engine optimization professionals use several different methods to achieve a higher page rank. Not all of these techniques are always effective because of various market factors and also because Google tends to change its policies to shake off those people that are using unacceptable methods to get a high rank.
The most basic technique to get a good page rank is to have keyword rich content. Keyword research thus becomes the most critical phase of any internet marketing strategy because that is what is going to define the entire plan. Keywords need to be chosen carefully and then embedded with care into the main body of the content whether it is a website, article, or blog. Balancing keyword density is another area that needs focus. The article must not appear mindlessly stuffed with keywords and neither should it be too dilute. Ideally, the keyword density should be between 3-5%. It is alright to go a bit higher or lower but going below 2% is as bad as going over the top. Once you have your keywords you need to frame the content so that they fit right in without distorting the language and staying with density limits.
The average length of articles and blog posts is pegged at around 500 words because users tend to read only about that much and then move on. For a 500 word article the keywords must be repeated about 4-6 times with minor fluctuations being acceptable. This is known as optimizing the content to get a good page rank.
Another thing to do is to use article directories or blogs that have a good page rank on Google. For instance, Blogger.com has a much higher ranking with Google than some other blogging websites so it is best to use blogger if you are optimizing for Google. Using a low ranked website will affect your blogs ranking as well. There are many tools that can help you check the page rank of various sites. You can find them by doing a search.
Page linking also affects your page rank. The more other websites or blogs link to yours the higher your page rank. It also works in reverse. You can use a blog on Blogger or create an entry on Squidoo to the main website. Such cross linking to high traffic websites will automatically give your own page rank a boost.
These are just some of the things that you can do to get a higher page rank with Google. A good approach is to implement as many techniques as you can for maximum effectiveness.
